Exception or limitation for text and data mining (Art. 4 DSM)
This (mandatory) exception or limitation allows any user to reproduce works and other protected subject matter, as well as to extract the contents of databases, in order to perform text and data mining for any purposes. Only those materials that are lawfully accessible and for which rights holders have not expressly prevented mining to be undertaken can be mined under this provision. Copies created in the course of text and data mining may be retained only for as long as they are necessary for the purposes. The permitted uses are not subject to compensation.
