France has implemented the Quotation for criticism or review (Art. 5.3(d) InfoSoc) exception in Article L122-5, 3°, (a) of the Intellectual Property Code. The national exception closely resembles the EU exception.

Implementation summary:

This exception allows for the analyses and short quotations of disclosed works, justified by the critical, polemic, educational, scientific or informatory nature of the work in which they are incorporated. The name of the author and the source must be clearly stated.
