Estonia has implemented the Use for the purpose of research or private study (Art. 5.3(n) InfoSoc) exception in §20, para 4 of the Copyright Act. The national exception closely resembles the EU exception.

Implementation summary:

This exception allows for the making available by public archives, museums or libraries of works in their collections, upon order from a natural person, on the spot through special equipment, as well as for the lending of works in their collections for individual on-the-spot use.

Remarks: The provision concerns copyrighted works. The exception is extended to related rights with a general reference to "other cases where the rights of authors of works are limited pursuant to Chapter IV of this Act" in § 75 (6).
